Milton's bantam girls fast-pitch team fell victim to the payback game at last week's Ontario Summer Games in Ottawa.
Finishing round-robin play in third place, the local club kept pace through the early going of the bronze-medal game before eventually getting toppled 13-3 by Guelph -- whom Milton edged 17-16 in day-two action.
Starting pitcher Natasha Thurston had to come out after the second inning because of a sore arm, and from there Guelph built on its two-run lead for a decisive win.
Milton earned a two-game split with Ottawa -- winning 21-4 and losing 12-2 -- while its other victory came over North York (9-8).
Along with her pitching efforts, Thurston stood out defensively at third base, while showing strongly behind the plate was Sarah Todorski.
