Haydar's Wolves advance

Published on May 16, 2008

For the second straight year, Milton hockey fans can catch Darren Haydar's AHL playoff run live.

The 28-year-old right winger and his Chicago Wolves -- whom he now captains -- will be at Toronto's Ricoh Coliseum Tuesday and Wednesday night for games three and four of the Western Conference finals against the Marlies. Both games start at 7:30 p.m.

The Wolves have reached the conference finals for the second straight year after dispatching the Rockford IceHogs 4-1 Tuesday evening in a winner-takes-all seventh game of the West Division championship.

Assisting on the eventual game winner for the second time in as many games, Haydar now sits with six goals and four assists in post-season play -- pushing his career playoff point total to 107 (49g, 58a). That puts him just three points out of second on the all-time list in the AHL's 75-year history.

Haydar -- who had two helpers in Sunday's 4-3 game-six triumph after Rockford had won three straight -- has reached the conference finals four times now and led playoff scoring in 2004, 2006 and 2007.

Chicago has home-ice advantage for the series, which gets underway tonight (Friday).

Splitting their two-game regular season series, the Wolves and Marlies each needed big comebacks to advance.
