Let's begin with September 2nd, the very first day of school. Our school’s Link Crew, consisting of about 30 senior students and teachers Mr. Spragge, Ms. Brown and Mr. Rawle, prepared a morning which offered the grade nines a chance to participate in some team building games. Following this exciting event was a barbecue outside the food school building, which gave our new Spartans their first taste of Drury's delicious menu.
But the insane goings-on brought by the first week of school were not nearly over. Another energetic moment in the past week was the school wide pep-rally on the first Friday of the year. The event showcased each and every group, team and club hosted by the students, ranging from volleyball to dance, and even robotics. The feedback was outstanding, and the rally was a success, symbolizing the beginning of the 28th glorious year at EC Drury High school.
Another highlight, this being during our second week back, was the highly anticipated auditions for Drury’s annual musical. The directors, Mr. Di Giorgio and Mrs. Cates chose the cast promptly and then headed off last weekend on an arts retreat to begin rehearsing.
The spirit at EC feels extraordinarily high this year. Let us hope that from the extra enthusiasm spurs some innovative ideas to make EC even better. Look out; EC is already on its way to making this year, just like every other, the best one yet!
