Roxul Inc. has partnered with the Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD) and Toronto and Region Conservation to construct a house that will showcase the best in conservation and sustainable technology.
The ‘Archetype Sustainable House’ will be part of an education program at the Kortright Centre in Vaughan.
Roxul has stepped up with its time and insulation products to make the project a reality. The insulation it’s providing can save more than 100 times the energy used to produce it.
“Builders, developers and suppliers are all updating the way they do business,” said Michael Modenhauer, president of BILD. “Through the Archetype Sustainable House, we’re choosing newer technologies to ensure a greener future for all of us.”
The two semi-detached units in the home will feature the best green building practices currently available and what could be achieved in the future. Energy and water conservation technologies, as well as material sourcing and construction processes will be addressed.
The house will serve as an education facility for trades, builders, students and the public, with more than 150,000 visitors projected annually.
