
Police said a vehicle reported stolen from Hamilton was first discovered in Burlington, where it had been involved in an accident at about 5:15 p. m. The motorist took off in the vehicle.
About 20 minutes later, that same vehicle was located in a ditch at Steeles Avenue and Guelph Line, with a man behind the wheel, police said.
He fled on foot after being approached by a conservation officer.
Police were notified and after a large-scale search, a man was arrested near Guelph Line at about 9 p. m. due in part to information police received from a citizen.
A 38-year-old Stoney Creek man has been charged with fail to remain and possession of stolen property.
Pick-up stolen
A pick-up truck was stolen from Commercial Street early Tuesday morning.
Police said unknown suspects made off with the red, 2002 GMC Sonoma sometime between 1:30 and 9 a. m. Its licence plate is 7492TB and it’s valued at $7,000.
Vehicles broken into
A number of vehicles — both locked and unlocked — were broken into recently.
Two incidents took place on Collis Court overnight Tuesday. A wallet and a purse were stolen from unlocked vehicles at separate addresses.
Overnight Monday, a vehicle parked in the visitors lot at a Millside Drive apartment building was broken into. The driver’s window was smashed and a dash-mounted Sirius satellite radio system worth $500 was taken.
Sunday night, two vehicles parked at Galaxy Cinemas on Maple Avenue were broken into, with unknown suspects smashing both drivers’ side windows. From one vehicle, a Sirius satellite radio and a black iPod nano valued at a total of $500 was stolen. From the other, a Magellan GPS with a charger and window mount valued at $300 were stolen.
Overnight Sunday, a vehicle on Lancaster Boulevard was broken into. The unlocked vehicle was entered and a portable DVD player with two screens — worth $250 — was swiped.
Overnight November 12, another vehicle parked in a Lancaster Boulevard driveway was entered, with a men’s silver Omega watch valued at $2,600 stolen.
And sometime between November 8 and Saturday, unknown suspects broke into a Dolby Crescent vehicle to steal a Magellan GPS worth $400.
Man arrested in domestic incident
Police responded to a report of a domestic incident early Sunday morning in Milton.
Police said a male and a female who were previously in a relationship were involved.
A 23-year-old Milton man was arrested and has been charged with dangerous driving, criminal harassment and uttering death threats.
Assault charge laid
An arrest was made in connection with a domestic incident that took place November 9.
Police said an investigation was conducted over a few days regarding a dispute between a male and a female partner.
A 37-year-old Milton man was arrested Monday and charged with assault.
Hospital office broken into
Police are investigating after an office of the Milton District Hospital Foundation was broken into sometime between Saturday and Monday.
Police said the door was forced open by unknown suspects who took an undisclosed amount of cash and cheques.
Trailer entered
A trailer was broken into overnight November 13 at the Reckitt Benckiser plant on Esquesing Line.
Police said unknown suspects cut the chain link fence to the property and then cut a lock to the trailer. Stolen were 41 cases of Lysol sanitizing wipes of an unknown value.
Strange vandalism discovered
A curious sort of damage was caused to a vehicle parked in a Donnelly Street driveway November 8.
Police said an unknown suspect poured syrup and bananas over the vehicle, causing $30 in damage.
