Two more people have been arrested since the Champion’s last story, which brings the total to eight. Of those, three are from Milton, said Halton Regional Police.
Five search warrants were conducted in Milton, Acton and Georgetown, with the Milton one taking place on Frobisher Boulevard. Seized at the home was about a pound of marijuana, drug equipment and cash.
The initiative, named Project Golden, spanned 15 months and involved undercover police officers making a number of drug purchases in north Halton.
Taking part in the investigation were members of Halton police’s drug and morality bureau, the tactical rescue unit, the number one district criminal investigation bureau and the uniform patrol.
The search warrants were conducted between 7 and 9:30 a. m.
Police seized $7,000 cash in the raids, as well as a significant quantity of drugs, which included cocaine, ketamine, cannabis resin and cannabis marijuana, police said. Also seized were two knives from a home in Georgetown.
“(The investigation) involved a lot of street-level dealers. That’s why it took so long,” said Det. Glenn Mannella of Halton Regional Police.
He said the “transient nature” of the offences added to the length of time it took to conclude the investigation.
A 44-year-old Frobisher Boulevard woman was charged with one count of trafficking cocaine and was released from custody.
A 22-year-old man, also of Frobisher Boulevard, has been charged with two counts each of trafficking cocaine and breach of probation, plus one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking (marijuana). He was held for a bail hearing in Milton.
And a 19-year-old Cargill Path woman was charged with trafficking cocaine and was released from custody.
