The event will take place at Hawthorne Pharmacy, 1580 Derry Rd. E., suite 105A (at Trudeau Drive). It’ll start at noon with refreshments and plenty of information available about ovarian cancer to help raise awareness.
Then, at 1 p. m., pharmacy owner Faisal Khawaja will do the deed, having his head shaved bald.
Khawaja aims to raise $500 for Ovarian Cancer Canada. It’s a cause that’s dear to his heart, since his mother died of ovarian cancer in 1999 at the age of 55.
He’s not far from his goal, already having raised more than $400.
“We are close to our goal, but I would really like to finish with a flourish,” he said.
Khawaja said he hopes to make this an annual event, with the money raised increasing each year.
Donations can be made on-line at www.ovariancanada.org/secure.asp?navid=62 in memory of Musarrat Khawaja.
They can also be made at the pharmacy (cash, cheque or credit card). Cheques should be made out to Ovarian Cancer Canada.
