Police escort officer facing assault charge Prisoner allegedly assaulted

A special constable with the Halton Regional Police Escort Unit has been charged following an investigation into assault allegations.

The charge of assault level one, which was laid Monday against the two-year member of the unit, stems from allegations that a prisoner was assaulted on his way into a Milton courtroom on September 18.

The victim didn’t suffer any serious injuries.

The special constable has been suspended from duty and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Milton on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

The Escort Unit is part of the Halton Regional Police Court Services Bureau and special constables are civilian employees of the service.
