The local residents are taking part in the annual Weekend to End Breast Cancer, which raises funds for breast cancer research, education, services and care at Princess Margaret Hospital.
The walk starts tomorrow and continues on Sunday, with participants travelling 60 km for the cause.
Michelle Arsenault is one of the Miltonians taking part this year. She and four other local women -- her sister-in-law Peggy Samms, Lisa Brodie, Kathy Chiappino and Laelar VanZuylen -- have formed Team Scotia and collectively raised about $10,000.
"The main reason I'm doing this is because my mother has had a few (breast cancer) scares. She's had a few lumps removed, but fortunately they were non-cancerous," said Arsenault, who works at the Scotiabank in the Laurier Centre.
The local woman said the community support the team received for its fundraisers, such as 'Bowling for Boobs,' was phenomenal.
While this is Arsenault's first year out for the event, Samms took part last year and encouraged her teammates to join in this weekend.
"It was a really great and very emotional experience," Samms said of last year's walk. "It's something I definitely want to do every year."
While Samms' life has never been touched by breast cancer, she said finding a cure is a cause she's always supported.
