The Town is inviting individuals with disabilities, their families and caregivers to attend its National Access Awareness Week celebration this Saturday.
The event, which will run from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Milton Sports Centre and 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Milton Leisure Centre, will include displays, activities and demonstrations.
The Town is hosting the day to promote access for all persons with disabilities, including mobility, sensory, non-visible and intellectual.
"The National Access Awareness Week celebration is the first event of its kind being hosted by the Town and our Milton Accessibility Advisory Committee," said Mayor Gord Krantz. "This event is part of an ongoing process to make Milton accessible by identifying and removing barriers for people with disabilities, which will benefit the community as a whole."
At the sports centre, attendees will have a chance to visit with a variety of disability-related agencies showcasing their products and services from 1 to 4 p.m.
A sledge hockey demonstration game will begin at 1 p.m., with an opportunity for public participation afterwards.
Wrapping up the sports centre activities will be a special needs skate from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Over at the leisure centre, a special needs swim will take place from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
