Canadian artist David Ticknor will greet fans at the Harrop Art Gallery, 345 Steeles Ave., next Friday from 7 to 10 p. m. and Saturday, Oct. 18 from 6 to 9 p. m.
Miltonians will also have a chance to view his original artwork up close.
Ticknor, who lives in Bracebridge with his wife, represents a variety of subjects in his artwork, which includes landscapes, florals and contemporary works.
The ‘Lakeside’ series focuses on northern Ontario landscapes that are rich in colour and texture. His ‘Contemporary Abstract’ series has allowed him to develop a style that resembles a sculpture on canvas.
His original oils range in price from $300 to $900.
Ticknor spent much of his youth in northern Ontario, where his love of painting began in his early teens. His interest in art was enhanced when he happened to meet Group of Seven member A. Y. Jackson painting in the woods of Kleinburg, Ontario.
