Milton native Shelby Richardson, was named this year’s Milton Fair Ambassador Friday.
The 18-year-old takes over the reins from Danielle Dubek.
The Junior Milton Fair Ambassador was also chosen — 15-year-old Lauren Bray.
Richardson, who was the only entrant and was acclaimed to the spot, performed her first duties at the fair — handing out trophies at the demolition derby and the baby show.
In the year ahead she’ll promote the fair and agriculture at various events.
“I just really think it will be a great experience,” she said. “It helps me with my public speaking skills.”
The E. C. Drury High School student wants to get the word out that Milton is still a place with a small-town feel.
“Even though the town has grown a lot, we’re still a really close community. We still come together every year to celebrate our roots.”
