The Confederate and the Union troops will fight for supremacy in an upcoming battle at Country Heritage Park.

The American Civil War Re-enactment will take place Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, with more than 150 people participating -- some travelling from as far away as New York.

Country Heritage Park -- at 8560 Tremaine Rd. -- will be transformed, with authentic military camps set up to portray how the soldiers lived.

The American Civil War started in 1861 and by the time it ended in 1865, about 50,000 Canadian soldiers were enlisted in the war.

Battle scenarios will go on throughout both days, as well as demonstrations including cavalry and artillery drills.

A fashion show will depict the styles of 1860 to '64 and a Native group will drum and sing songs from the period.

On Sunday, a church service typical of the 1860s will be held.

For the kids, there'll be a spy mission scavenger hunt with an opportunity to earn prizes.

Many park exhibits will also be open, including the 1830s and 1860s homesteads.

The cost for the event is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors, $4 for kids aged six to 12 and free for kids under six. A family pass is available for $20.
