There's still time left for gardeners in Milton to recycle their used flowerpots -- thanks to a partnership between Landscape Ontario and Re-Source Ontario.

They're hosting a pilot project to divert thousands of pounds of plastic pots, trays, tags and greenhouse film from the local landfills. Many municipal recycling programs don't accept these items.

Four large containers are set out at the Milton office of Landscape Ontario, 7856 Fifth Line, just south of Steeles Avenue.

Members of the public are encouraged to drop off their used horticultural plastic during business hours.

Today (Friday) is the last day of the program.

Organizers say the week-long project will help the entire horticultural industry to evaluate the feasibility of similar long-term projects.

Landscape Ontario is one of the largest horticultural trade associations in North America, with more than 2,300 members.
